Walt Oden is a certified Elite Professional with the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). During the last 25 years in the profession, Walt has had the pleasure of engaging in every aspect of the tennis industry. He is currently the Director of Racquets at the historic Shaker Heights Country Club in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He is also an Assistant Coach of the Men and Women at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio. Prior to his role as a college coach, Walt Oden spent over 20 years coaching both Boy’s and Girl’s High School tennis. He has also worked at a several of Northeastern Ohio’s premier private racquet clubs. Walt was a 20-year volunteer in the USTA including as President of his district, a President of his State USPTA, Head Coach of the Competition Training Centers and Financial Controller for the Roger Federer Foundation’s the Match for Africa 4 & 5. The USPTA was gracious enough to award him the Ohio Professional of the Year three times. His academic passion is his lifelong obsession with neuroscience which he satisfies by speaking and writing regularly.
