The CourseShaker Heights Country Club is recognized by Golf Digest as the 18th best golf course in the state of Ohio. Our course features a classic Donald Ross layout where golfers will have to use every club in their bag.
In 1979 Shaker co-hosted the two qualifying rounds of the United States Men's Amateur Championship. The competitors played one stroke play round at both Canterbury and Shaker prior to the start of match play at Canterbury. Future PGA Tour stars such as Fred Couples, Payne Stewart, Hal Sutton, Bob Tway and Bobby Clampett competed. Mark O'Meara went on to defeat John Cook to win the championship.
From 1981 to 1984 Shaker hosted the World Championship of Women's Golf. This event included the twelve best women golfers in the world playing for the largest prize in women's golf. Past champions at Shaker include: Beth Daniel (1981), Jo Anne Carner (1982-83) and Nancy Lopez (1984). In 1985 new sponsors moved the World Championship of Women's Golf to Atlanta, GA.
